Prior to the Cadet World Championships, started in 1967, the Cadet champions from 1950 up to and including 1966 won the International Cadet Week. It was long considered not done to sail a World Championship, where countries would sail against countries. The Second World War was still fresh in people’s minds…
Please note: in 1959 the International Cadet Week was won by Jacques Rogge, with his brother as crew. Count Rogge KCMG, an accomplished sailor, grew up to become an orthopedic surgeon and later in life became President of the International Olympic Committee.
